Why should spirits have all the fun?
Van Hunks began with that question. Wine was playing it safe while the spirits world got all the personality, so we went looking for the opposite of ordinary and bottled it.
After a decade with Don Papa Rum, co-founder Tom Gamborg knew exactly what sparkling wine was missing. Energy. Personality. Something honest in the glass. He partnered with Matthew Krone, a 12th generation Stellenbosch winemaker, and brought that same craft and storytelling to premium bubbles.

BAKING THE PEOPLE AROUND US.
From our home at The Old Biscuit Mill we run donation drives every other month for a rotating list of Cape Town NPOs. We also back three organisations whose work speaks for itself.
- The Pebbles Project: supporting children and families across Winelands communities.
- Greenpop: planting trees, turning under resourced schools into green spaces, and getting communities into the soil.
- The MENstruation Foundation: ending period poverty, one pad dispenser at a time.
I’ve tried so many non-alcoholic bubbles, and honestly, nothing comes close to Van Hunks. The non-alc Rosé is my absolute favourite, although I love alternating with the Chenin when I’m in the mood for something different. What I love most is that it gives you the same luxurious, celebratory feeling as MCC, crisp, delicious and full of flavour — without feeling like you’re compromising. And the bubbles actually last.
Absolutely loving it, my family and friends reckon it needs a warning label to say that it sparks some crazy creative inventions and solutions to life challenges ie: using sheep dogs to herd Springboks on Golf courses instead of darting 🤭 they blame van hunks , I don’t as I teach for the bottle next time too

I recently tried the Van Hunks Drinks Brut Sparkling Wine and was blown away by its crisp, refreshing, and fruity profile. The blend of 30% Pinot Noir and 70% Chardonnay creates a perfect harmony. It's now my top choice for celebrations!
